Lychnis Chalcedonica Firletka Mix Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This cottage garden plant has clusters of eye catching flowers in various shades including red, pink and white that stand on tall stiff upright stems above green foliage.

A popular hardy perennial that is perfect for summer colour plant towards the middle of a sunny mixed border.

Sow January - April or May - June

Loam or sandy soil that's acidic, alkaline or neutral

Germination time 7- 21 days

Height 60cm x 80cm

Plant in sun or partial shade

Flowers June - July the following year

Ideal for beds, borders, wildlife, cottage, coast, low maintenance

Also known as maltese cross, Jerusalem cross

Cut down after flowering

Sow between February - April on a warm window sill or propagator into trays of moist compost cover with 5mm of sieved compost.

When the seedlings are large enough to handle transplant to 5cm apart into trays to grow on.

Gradually harden off the plants before planting out after all risk of frost has passed 40cm apart.

Alternatively sow in a seed bed from May - June plant the young plants into their final flowering position in autumn.
