Lettuce Hilde 2 ORGANIC Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This butterhead variety of lettuce has large heads of tasty thick bright green leaves.

An excellent bolt resistant salad vegetable.

Sow from late summer in a greenhouse for a winter crop.

Sow April - August

Germination 7 - 14 days

Loam - sandy soil that's alkaline or acidic

Harvest May - October

Companion Plants Beetroot, beans, carrots and radish

Do not plant with cabbage

Pick the lettuce when they are of a decent size

A good source of vitamin A

Use in Salads and sandwiches

Make small successional sowings in fertile well drained soil in a sheltered sunny spot fortnightly to ensure a good supply of lettuce throughout the summer months.

Lettuce does not grow well in acidic soil keep.

Keep well watered during dry spells.

Sow outside between April - August in drills 1.5cm deep and 30cm between rows.

Can be sown late summer under cover for a winter crop.
