Description
Gourd Zucchetta Tromba D'Albenga Seeds - Irish Plants Direct
A traditional Italian gourd variety with long, slender fruits, perfect for both ornamental and culinary use.
Gourd Zucchetta Tromba D'Albenga (Cucurbita moschata) produces unique, trumpet-shaped gourds with a pale green colour that ripens to a golden yellow. The fruits can grow up to 60 cm long, making them an impressive addition to the garden.
This variety is ideal for making summer vegetable dishes, as well as for ornamental displays, adding character to trellises, fences, and garden arbors. Growing to a height of around 2 meters, it is well-suited for vertical gardening or sprawling across garden beds.
Perfect for creating an eye-catching display in the garden, Zucchetta Tromba D'Albenga is also versatile in the kitchen, commonly used in Mediterranean cooking.
Seed Qty: 4 grams
Sow: April - June
Germination: 7 - 14 days
Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil, neutral to slightly acidic pH
Height: 2 meters
Harvesting: July - October
Companion Plants: Beans, Corn, Peas

Regular watering is essential to keep the plants healthy and the fruits tender.
Sowing Instructions
Sow seeds indoors from April to June, 1-2 cm deep in moist, well-drained compost. Keep in a warm, sunny spot for optimal germination. Once seedlings are large enough, transplant them outdoors after the last frost.
Alternatively, sow directly outdoors in late spring, once the soil has warmed. Space plants 50-60 cm apart to allow for their spreading growth.
Gourd Zucchetta Tromba D'Albenga is an excellent choice for gardeners looking to grow both a beautiful climbing plant and a versatile vegetable for the kitchen.
