Endive Avantgarde Winter ORGANIC Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This tasty salad vegetable is an old variety with a good tolerance to cold.

It has large heads of juicy frilly green leaves with a pale yellow heart.

The growing season can be extended if they are grown in a tunnel or greenhouse.

Use for mixed salad's.

Sow June - July

Germination 7 - 14 days

Loam soil that's alkaline or neutral

Harvest September - November

Companion Plants Beetroot, beans, carrots and radish

Do not plant with cabbage

Cut off the heads when they are firm

A good source of vitamin A

Use in mixed Salads

Sow thinly outdoors between June - July in drills 1.5cm deep and 15cm between rows when the seedlings appear thin to 15cm apart.

If they are grown in the greenhouse or tunnel they season may be extended into winter.

Keep well watered during summer.
