Description
Corn Salad Great North Dutch ORGANIC Seeds - Irish Plants Direct
This large leaved easy to grow salad crop has large tender leaves with a buttery flavour.
They are perfect for mixed salads especially during winter when little else is growing.
Seed Qty 2.5gram
Sow April - June or August - September
Germination 7 - 14 days
Loam - sandy soil that's alkaline or neutral
Harvest June - August or December - March
Companion Plants Beetroot, beans, carrots and radish.
Do not plant with cabbage
Pick the leaves regularly
A good source of vitamin A
Use in Salads, sandwiches and garnish
Corn salad does not grow well in acidic soil, water well during dry weather.
Make small successional sowings in fertile well drained soil in a sheltered sunny spot fortnightly to ensure a good supply of leaves.
Sow thinly in rows 1.5cm deep and 15cm between rows. When the seedlings appear thin to 15cm apart.
Sow April - June for a summer crop then August September under cover for a winter crop.
