This easy to grow autumn winter root vegetable has large rounded roots with a smooth skin and creamy coloured flesh with an excellent flavour.

Sow indoors February - April in seed trays 1.5cm deep water and place in a warm position 15 - 20cm and keep moist. Transplant into small pots or seed trays 5cm apart when they are large enough to handle, grow on in cooler conditions gradually accustom the plants to outsiders conditions.

 

Plant out in rows 30cm apart into rich well drained soil planting so the upper swollen part of the root sits on the surface of the soil water well.

 

Keep well watered during dry weather. 

Remove any side shoots leaving the central leaves.
