This productive winter vegetable originally from Venice produces tasty white fibre less rounded roots upto 10cm in size with a mild celery flavour.

 

It will store for a long time once picked. 

 

Seed Qty 4 gram

 

 

Sow indoors February - April in seed trays 1.5cm deep water and place in a warm position 15 - 20cm and keep moist. Transplant into small pots or seed trays 5cm apart when they are large enough to handle, grow on in cooler conditions gradually accustom the plants to outsiders conditions.

 

Plant out in rows 30cm apart 35cm wide into rich well drained soil planting so the upper swollen part of the root sits on the surface of the soil.

 

Alternatively sow out doors between April - June. 

 

Keep well watered during dry weather. 

 

Cut off any side shoots leaving the central leaves.
