This easy to grow vegetable produces good yields of pale skinned oval shaped roots with short stemmed dark green leaves.

 

It has a creamy white flesh with celery like flavour.

 

This is a good bolt resistant variety.

Sow February - April 

Germination 7 - 14 days

Loam - sandy soil that's alkaline, acidic or neutral 

Harvest July - November 

Companion Plants Runner Beans, Lettuce, Spinach

Do not plant with Pumpkins, Cucumber or Squash

Harvest when the roots are 10cm across or bigger 

A good source of vitamin B6, B5 and Fibre

Uses boil, mash, roast or use in soups

 

Sow indoors between February - April in seed trays 1.5cm deep place in a warm position 15 - 20cm and keep moist. Transplant into small pots or seed trays 5cm apart when they are large enough to handle, grow on in cooler conditions gradually accustom the plants to outsiders conditions.

 

Plant out in rows 30cm apart 35cm wide into rich well drained soil planting so the upper swollen part of the root sits on the surface of the soil.

 

Keep well watered during dry weather. 

 

Sow outside between March - April.
