Sow March to July directly outdoors in drills. Germination 14 to 21 days at 10–25°C. Soil and Position Light fertile well drained soil; prefers full sun. Height Foliage approx 30 cm; roots develop below ground. Harvesting June to October; lift roots when young and tender or allow to mature for larger carrots.

Sowing instructions

Prepare a fine seed bed in full sun. Sow seeds thinly in drills 1 cm deep and 30 cm apart. Thin seedlings to 5–7 cm spacing once established. Water well after sowing and keep soil moist during dry spells. For a continuous supply sow every three weeks until mid summer.

 

Grow and maintenance

Grow in light fertile soil free from stones to encourage straight roots. Water regularly to prevent splitting and maintain even growth. Thin seedlings carefully to avoid bruising which can attract pests. Practice crop rotation to reduce the risk of carrot fly.
