Cabbage Savoy Bloemendaalse Gele ORGANIC Seed - Irish Plants Direct
 
This traditional fast growing mid sized white cabbage has densely packed crinkly leaves with a mild flavour. 
 
It stands well over winter and has a good resistance to disease and bolting.

Loam or sandy soil that's alkaline or neutral 
Harvest October - February 
Companion plants Other brassicas, Celery, Chard, Spinach, Rosemary, Onion, and Tomatoes.
Do not plant with Strawberries 
Harvest from October onwards by cutting heads from the stem
A good source of vitamin A and C
Use for boiling, steaming or shred for salad 🥗 
 
Cabbages require a fertile well drained soil in partial shade that has been well dug in autumn they do not like acidic soil so adding lime to the soil may be necessary. 
 
Sow outside between April - June in a prepared seed bed sowing thinly in rows 1.5cm deep keep the soil moist.
When the plants have around 5 leaves transplant to their final position leaving 60cm between plants and 60cm between rows firm in and water well.
 
Sow indoors between March - April in a tray sowing thinly and covering with a fine layer of compost and place on sunny warm window sill or warm greenhouse.
 
When the seedlings are large enough to handle  transplant into tray 5cm apart or into individual pots to grow on.
Gradually accustom the plants to outside then plant out into their final growing position 60cm between each plant and 60cm between rows.
 
Keep well watered during dry spells.
