This winter variety has large pale green solid round heads with light green leaves with a crisp texture and good flavour. 

 

They store well after they are cut.

Cabbages require a fertile well drained soil in partial shade that has been well dug in autumn they do not grow well in acidic soil so adding lime to the soil may be necessary.

 

Sow indoors from March onwards when the plants have around 5 leaves harden off and transplant to their final growing position spacing the plants around 40cm apart and 45cm between rows treading the plants in well.

 

Alternatively sow outdoors between April and May in a seed bed sowing thinly in drills 1.25cm deep thin the seedlings eventually spacing the plants 40cm apart and 45cm between rows into their final growing position treading the plants in well.

 

Water well before transplanting and during dry spells.
