This barrel shaped cabbage has a unique colour with a crunchy very deep red heart and dark pink outer leaves. 

 

They provide amazing colour in stir fries and salads.

Cabbages require a fertile well drained soil in partial shade that has been well dug in autumn they do not grow well in acidic soil so adding lime to the soil may be necessary.

 

Sow outdoors from June in a seed bed sowing thinly in drills 13mm deep thin the seedlings eventually spacing the plants 40cm apart and 30cm between rows into their final growing position treading the plants in well.

 

Water well before transplanting and ensure they are watered during dry spells.
