Broccoli Sprouting Burbank F1 Seeds - Seeds Irish Plants Direct
 
This vigorous and hardy reliable variety produces tasty and tender creamy white spears over a long period of time from late winter.

☀️Sow March - May
☀️Germination 7 - 14 days
☀️Loam, clay, sandy soil that's alkaline or neutral 
☀️Harvest February - April the following year
☀️Companion Plants All brassicas, beetroot, carrots, onions, rosemary, sage, mint, marigolds, calendula
Do not plant with strawberries.
☀️Harvest from late winter cutting out the main central spear to encourage side branches pick regularly.
☀️A good source of Vitamin A, C and iron
☀️Use for Boiling and steaming raw in salads. Ideal for freezing.
 
Brassicas require a fertile well drained soil in partial shade that has been well dug in autumn they do not grow well in acidic soil so adding lime to the soil may be necessary.
 
Sow indoors from March onwards onto moist compost when the seedlings are large enough to handle transplant to individual pots to grow on.
 
When they have around 5 leaves harden off and transplant to their final growing position spacing the plants around 60cm apart and 30cm between rows treading the plants in well.
 
Water well before transplanting and during any dry spells. 
 
Alternatively sow outdoors from march in a seed bed sowing in drills 1.25cm deep thin the seedlings eventually spacing the plants 60cm apart and 30cm between rows plant in their final planting position treading the plants in well.
