Basil Rubin ORGANIC Herb Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This attractive bushy aromatic herb has reddish purple leaves with a good flavour that is slightly stronger than sweet basil.

It's extremely ornamental and could be grown in the vegetable garden, mixed container displays or towards the front of a flower border amongst the flowers.

☀️Sow February - June or year round for indoor use

☀️Germination 7 - 10 days

☀️Loam - sandy soil that is acidic or neutral

☀️Harvest June - October

☀️Companion Plants Tomato's, Peppers, Oregano

☀️Do not plant with Sage

☀️Pick the leaves when required.

☀️A good source of vitamin A,C,E and K

☀️Use in pasta dishes, salads and garnish

Sow the seed thinly in February onto well drained compost and cover lightly and leave on a sunny window sill. Alternatively sow outdoors in a sunny sheltered spot into fertile soil from April.

Basil doesn't tolerate any cold so make sure all frosts have passed before planting out. It will have small pink flowers in summer pinch out the flower heads or trim the plant after flowering to encourage new leaf growth.
